Welcome to Guam! 🇬🇺

This month, we’re learning all about Guam — a tiny island full of culture, nature, and history! Whether you're from Guam or just discovering it through this guide, you’ll find plenty of ways to explore together through stories, songs, crafts, and simple conversations. Let’s get started!

Where in the World is Guam?

Guam is a small island in the western Pacific Ocean. It’s part of the Mariana Islands and is also a U.S. territory. Even though it’s small, Guam is full of big adventures, from waterfalls and jungles to beautiful ocean views. Your child will love learning about where Guam is and what makes it special.

Discovering CHamoru Culture

The first people of Guam are the CHamoru (say it like “cha-mo-roo”). Their culture is strong, beautiful, and full of love for family and community. You and your child will learn about CHamoru language, values, and traditions, like storytelling, dancing, and being respectful to elders.

Try This at Home:

  • Practice saying hĂĄfa adai (hello!) and si yu’os ma’åse’ (thank you) together.

  • Listen to a CHamoru song or story.

  • Talk about the meaning of respect and kindness — important values in CHamoru life.

Nature and Ocean Adventures

Guam is a nature lover’s dream! From mountains and splashing waterfalls to coral reefs and clear blue beaches, your child will love learning about the island’s land and sea animals.

This is a great time to talk about how we take care of nature and why it’s important to protect the land and ocean around us.
